MOSAiC expedition set to begin in 2019

The Multidisciplinary drifting Observatory for the Study of Arctic Climate (MOSAiC) expedition will see the Alfred Wegener Institute’s RV Polarstern frozen into Arctic sea ice in the Siberian sector of the Arctic Ocean to drift for around a year before exiting via the Fram Strait. The expedition will gather data observing the ocean, ice and atmosphere, helping to better understand the physical, chemical and biological properties of the Arctic environment and how it is changing.
