ARCUM joins the European Polar Board

During the European Polar Board (EPB) Spring 2018 Plenary Meeting, held on 15th June during POLAR2018 in Davos, Switzerland, the Arctic Research Centre at Umeå University (ARCUM), Sweden, was welcomed as a new Member.

ARCUM, represented on the EPB Plenary by Prof. Peter Sköld, was established in 2012 and has more than 320 affiliated Arctic researchers across Umeå University. The research conducted within ARCUM has high relevance to society and meets the increased demand for research-based knowledge. Cooperation is also of great importance. The centre offers excellent opportunities for subject disciplinary and interdisciplinary collaborations. ARCUM has a primary strength in its access to successful researchers and infrastructures, while new disciplines and young researchers continuously connect to the Centre. The researchers bring new perspectives on the northern and indigenous-related issues and sharpens the human dimension through cultural studies, health, environment, climate, legal and socio-economic research.

The EPB looks forward to working closely with ARCUM. More information on ARCUM can be found here: http://www.arcum.umu.se/english/.
