This year’s EPB Autumn Plenary meeting took place in Tromsø, Norway, hosted by the Norwegian Polar Institute (NPI) at the High North Research Centre for Climate and the Environment (The Fram Centre).
The Norwegian Polar Institute is a directorate under the Ministry of the Climate and Environment. The Institute’s activities are focused on environmental management needs in the polar regions.
The new Director of the Norwegian Polar Institute, Camilla Brekke, welcomed members of the EPB at Fram Centre during the Welcome reception on 5th November 2023. The EPB Autumn Plenary meeting took place on 6-7 November 2023 in a hybrid format. Besides regular updates and conversations, the EPB Executive Committee (EXCOM) elections also took place. Current EPB Chair, N Biebow, was elected for her second term as an EPB Chair. E Nielsson was elected for his second term as an EXCOM member. View information about current EXCOM members here.
The EPB also welcomed a new member: Centre of Arctic and Antarctic Research, Lulea University of Technology (Sweden).
Many thanks to the Norwegian Polar Institute for hosting us this Autumn and to all EPB Members for their contributions to this productive meeting. We are already looking forward to our Spring Plenary Meeting that will take place on 23-24 April 2024 in Katowice, hosted by the Committee on Polar Research (Polish Academy of Sciences), Centre for Polar Studies (University of Silesia in Katowice) & Polish Polar Consortium.
