EU Arctic Policy: Science as catalyst for international cooperation

EU Arctic Policy: Science as catalyst for international cooperation

The European Polar Board, jointly with EU-PolarNet and INTERACT, organised a breakout session at the Arctic Circle Assembly 2017 in Reykjavik. The session aimed at fostering active discussions on how to further improve international cooperation in Arctic science. After short presentations, participants were asked to discuss the following questions:

-        - What are the key areas in which large global scale scientific collaboration can contribute to a sustainable development of the Arctic?

-        - How can we make sure that cooperation efforts, such as projects giving transnational access to infrastructures, are (financially) sustained?

A summary an overview of the session, including video message from European Commissioner Karmenu Vella, can be found here: http://www.eu-polarnet.eu/news-and-events/conferences-and-workshops/arctic-circle-2017/.
